The usual state of things

Sound familiar?

  • Backups nobody has tested

Something is running. Nobody has confirmed it restores.

  • An IT person who stopped answering

Set up years ago by someone unreachable, with no documentation.

  • Onboarding by guesswork

Every new hire costs three days of hunting for accounts and licenses.

  • Confidentiality you can't verify

You're obligated to protect client data, with no way to show that you do.

Questions

Straight answers

You're one person. What happens if you're unavailable?

Your environment is documented from the first month, so nothing critical lives only in my head, and you own your admin credentials outright. Support runs business hours with a defined window for urgent issues, stated in writing before you sign. Outside that, I'll tell you directly and help you reach someone who can. I won't pretend there's a team behind me.

How does pricing work?

Monthly, based on headcount, devices, and which areas you want covered. I quote after the assessment — quoting before I've seen your environment would be a guess. No multi-year lock-in. One-off projects are fine too.

What happens when something breaks at 9pm?

Urgent problems — email down, a suspected security incident, a server that won't come back — have an escalation path we agree up front. A misbehaving printer waits until morning.

How does switching from our current provider work?

Without a gap. I document what exists, move account ownership into your name, and verify backups run before anything changes. Untangling credentials the previous provider holds in their own name is usually the slow part.

We're only four people. Are we too small?

No. A four-person firm has most of the same obligations as a forty-person one. What you don't have is anyone whose job it is to think about them.

Will you have access to our client files?

Administrative access is necessary to support your systems. Access is limited to what the work requires, actions are logged, and I'll sign your confidentiality agreement. Your data stays in your tenant, and you can revoke my access at any time.

How does remote support handle something physical?

Most work — accounts, email, software, security — is fully remote, which is faster than waiting for a drive out. For a failed device or new cabling I diagnose remotely, then coordinate a local vendor or walk your staff through it.
